Biography
Lisa Su was born in Taiwan, moved to the U.S. as a child, and earned BS/MS/PhD degrees in electrical engineering from MIT. Early career roles at Texas Instruments and IBM centered on process and device work; she later held product and business leadership posts at Freescale. She joined AMD in 2012 and became CEO in 2014, simplifying the portfolio and betting on Ryzen/EPYC and GPUs—turning AMD from a marginalized CPU supplier into a core data-center and HPC competitor. More recently her public narrative focuses on AI accelerator roadmaps, customer co-design, and software (ROCm), stressing multi-generation commitments over single-node process storytelling.
